At the Saplings Nursery, we grow Seedlings into Saplings! We provide each individual child with the opportunity to develop in a safe, fun, friendly and curiosity provoking environment, we aim to provide a home from home feel so that the children feel safe and secure to explore and therefore learn to their full potential.
The first step to achieving this is by building a good rapport with parents and carers as we understand that you are the child’s first and most enduring carers and therefore can provide us with all the information we need to help your child settle in, feel secure and able to learn to their full potential. Through the key person approach our qualified and nurturing staff build a bond with the children to learn all about them, their family and their interests to then use this information to plan stimulating, educational activities. Any activities planned follow the children’s interests and ideas to keep them interested and aim to scaffold their learning.
We also achieve this by providing rich, inclusive environments for the children to explore freely; we provide lots of natural loose parts in our play, inspired by the Reggio approach, so that the children can use their imagination and make the loose parts into what ever they wish to that day! We provide an inclusive environment by ensuring all children and parents can access all areas of the setting and by providing positive images and resources that reflect the diversity of our community through posters, toys, food, clothing and celebrating festivals. We also understand the wealth of learning that the outside environment brings for the children, being outside allows opportunities for large scale play, promotes physical wellbeing, problem solving as well as allowing the children to calculate their own risks in a safe environment.
